This is where I get to ramble when I feel like it. Kind of like a blog, but it's not a blog. This is a blog. ;-).

Clippets panel for Flash

Monday, July 19, 2004 5:54:40 PM

Flash MX 2004 is not the greatest ActionScript editor out there, but there are some people out there trying to improve it. Daniele Ugoletti is working on a Snippets panel for Flash MX 2004, but in the meantime he has created the Clippets extension. Clippets are like snippets, but they exist in the clipboard. In other words, you can copy some code into the clipboard and make a clippet out of the code. You can then access the code at any time from the panel to insert into your ActionScript code. You can download Clippets from Daniele's blog: http://www.ugoletti.com/blog/archives/2004/07/17/clippets-new-flash-extension/

Tutorial on new Flash Remoting components

Thursday, July 15, 2004 9:09:36 PM

Paul Newman wrote a tutorial that was just published today on using the new Flash Remoting components. It is available at Community MX at http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=ADF3B. The tutorial is a case study on how he created an application for one of his customers that displays a list of authors. By clicking on the authors, a detail pane shows the photo and bio of the specific author. Also, a contact form sends an email. The tutorial also contains the completed .flas and .cfcs so you can follow along. I loaded it myself and it worked perfectly the first time after setting the datasource as described in the article. The completed application can be viewed here.
