This is where I get to ramble when I feel like it. Kind of like a blog, but it's not a blog. This is a blog. ;-).

Bad email

Tuesday, October 14, 2003 9:36:54 AM

I just found out yesterday that my email address, tom AT flash-remoting.com, has not been working. I don't know how long this has been happening, but it was a DNS issue that should be resolved now. I switched registrars a few weeks ago and there were a few problems in the switch. If anyone has tried to email me you can also reach me at tommuck AT basic-drumbeat.com.

Future of Flash

Thursday, October 09, 2003 8:27:56 AM

Community MX has released an interview with Lucian Beebe, senior product manager at Macromedia, focused on developer and applications support for Macromedia Flash. The interview goes into some detail about Remoting and the future of using Flash to connect to application servers, although as always, MM is impossible to pin down on any future plans. Check it out at http://www.communitymx.com/abstract.cfm?cid=A326E0BFDB5DFD79.

New tutorial at flash-db

Thursday, October 09, 2003 8:19:05 AM

Jorge Solis has written a nice tutorial on using Justin's Remoting connector for Flash MX 2004. You can find it at http://www.flash-db.com/Tutorials/update/. The tutorial covers AMFPHP, but I'm sure it could be easily adapted to ColdFusion, Java, or ASP.NET.

Flash Remoting: The Definitive Guide shipping!

Friday, October 03, 2003 10:11:45 AM

Flash Remoting: The Definitive Guide is now shipping. Amazon has started filling orders, and the book should be generally available in bookstores shortly. Thanks for all the support and encouragement I've had. If anyone has any questions or comments, email me. My address is at the bottom of the page. Many of the examples are up now at http://www.flash-remoting.com/examples/, and the rest will be up this weekend. The book covers Flash MX, but most of it applies to Flash MX 2004 as well. I'll be posting updated examples for Flash MX 2004 shortly, although all of the example files will work as is in Flash MX 2004.

Order from Amazon and help support this site.
